Arriving in a whirlwind of dust, the Kamaitachi is a sickle-wielding weasel that will cut you at every chance it gets. While some have claimed that the Kamaitachi is a story created to explain when small sharp objects are picked up by high winds and result in injuring people (or even more specifically: dust devils), we much prefer the interpretation that there’s a small devil hiding in the midst of a whirlwind, ready to slice you up as it pleases.
Described as having the pointed fur of a hedgehog and the bark of a dog, the appearance of Kamaitachi does have some slight variations but generally looks like a weasel. Local legends of the creature vary from region to region but the main points stay the same - it travels on the wind (particularly fierce in the cold, or so we’ve been told) and their attacks vary from small cuts to slicing your skin clean off. The best protection we can advise on this is a very thick coat and keeping your face covered at all times. And make sure you’re stocked up on band-aids.
