From the tales of King Arthur, Cath Palug is a giant cat whose mother was a pig. Yes, that is as confusing as it sounds. This freakish feline roams the Isle of Anglesey like a frightening specter, causing all manner of cat-like mischief. Its name relates to the terrifying claws it wields and it has even been known as the “scratching cat” at times. We recommend keeping this creature at arms length, lest your arms get torn to shreds.

The huge beast is described as having dark fur and it is unclear as to whether it is a spirit or whether it has a physical form. The creature prefers to stay near water at all times. Some eye witnesses have even claimed that it isn’t just a monstrously large cat but that it may have some fish-like qualities too. While many domesticated cats are terrified of water, Cath Palug bucks that trend and actually prefers to take a refreshing dip when it can. Keeping that in mind, if you are tracking down the creature and think that using a spray bottle to reprimand it as if it were a common housecat, you might be barking up the wrong tree.
