It is incredibly difficult to track down the protector of the Amazon Rainforest, the Curupira. Not because it doesn’t leave tracks but because its tracks are so deceptive. The red-haired short humanoid can set its hair alight and yet that’s still not its most noteworthy feature. The reason our field agents had such a difficult time tracing the Curupira is due to its backwards-facing feet, which it uses to create trails trackers find difficult to trace.
Curupira have such an important role in protecting the rainforest that in 1970, the governor of São Paulo legally declared them the guardian of the forests and even signed this into law. These demons are infamous for targeting hunters, poachers, and anyone who harms animals, particularly those defending their young. Despite their small stature, the Curupira are fiercely strong, highly intelligent, and, according to some reports, skilled mimics of human voices, using this talent to deceive and mislead trackers and hunters.
Rumor has it the Curupira enjoy a smoke and a drink, so a few cigarettes and a bottle might win their favor, just don’t overstep by taking more than you need, harming the wildlife, or leaving your butts and bottles behind.
