Filled with one particularly fearsome beast and a seemingly endless supply of wolves, the quiet French town of Gévaudan is a beast-hunter’s dream. For everyone else, it's a nightmare of fangs and claws.
Located in the southern regions of France, it is now the province of Lozère after Gévaudan was renamed and some borders shifted following the French revolution. Shortly before this identity crisis, it became famous all over Europe for its 4 year ordeal with the Beast of Gévaudan.
During this period, several wolves and other large dogs were hunted and killed, meaning it was a hotspot for furred menaces. If the titular Beast didn’t get you, it was more than likely that you’d have at least one run in with a wolf, wild dog or some other horribly rabid creature lurking in the woods. Aside from the likelihood of being mauled to death by the beast, Gévaudan is the perfect training ground for monster hunters and wolf trackers alike. It’s also the ideal place for werewolves to hide in plain sight. Just a suggestion for those lycanthropes who were maybe looking for a pleasant summer vacation spot.
