Roaming the halls of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. is the incredibly odd Demon Cat. Said to have been set loose in the building in the 1800s as a mouser, it seems that it simply never left. Often described as a mysterious black cat, the Demon Cat’s size has been greatly debated. While some say it is a typical housecat, others claim to have seen it grow in size until it can take up a whole hallway.
There is supposedly a crypt in the basement of the Capitol Building which was intended for President Washington but now the Demon Cat calls this his home and he will strike at any who try to remove him. He even has a body count after a guard died of a heart attack after seeing him prowling the halls.
The Demon Cat is most commonly sighted at two key moments. The first is around presidential elections. Whether that’s on election night or whether he likes to ramp up activity during the campaigns, we are unsure. Either way, he is clearly very patriotic or he’s sucking energy from busy staffers working above him. The other occasion when he is seen the most is right before tragedy strikes. He was famously seen right before the assassinations of both Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.
