TIPS

Alliances:

Last week’s Rivin tips still stand but here’s a reminder in case you’re somewhat forgetful:

Slavic come in strong with Baba Yaga and Leshy both being excellent cards to strengthen and build over time. But if you’re short on Fabled luck, Bauk and Psoglav are both excellent Rare cards that will be incredibly useful in any game, never mind your first few as a new player.

With West African, Mami Wata is going to be useful this week with that 16 Mana per Turn as she’ll reduce the cost of a random West African card. That cost reduction could be a lifesaver for you. As always, Anansi and Shango are powerful cards to have but it’s also going to be a great week for utilising your Rares. After last week’s restrictive 20 Mana cap, the bonus Mana gifted by your Rares will be incredibly handy (especially Oshosi).

Synnig is a gift of an Alliance with something for every level of player. With Celts, you can build a fun Commons deck - ideal for new players. Nordic is best for those feeling brave with their Mana Management but the hard-hitting cards are worth it. And Urban Legends are like a Swiss-Army knife with many of the cards fitting neatly into other Synnig decks (and even non-Synnig too). We suspect Spring Heeled Jack is going to be one to watch for this week, especially in Celts decks.

Mana Management:

While a Mana cap of 64 seems like a lot of Mana to play with, you have to remember that you’re going to need to build up to that, with only 16 Mana to start. That 8 Mana minimum could be the guarantee that you can play at least one card during the early game but be careful!

Essential cards this week like Fenrir and Jörmungandr are going to be brutal in both mono-Nordic decks and, for Fenrir at least, across the board. As we’ve already said, Mami Wata is also going to be a real boon this week. Don’t sleep on cards like the Hat Man, which will steal Mana from your opponent (while also benefiting from the Synnig Alliance boost). And this might be the week for a few devious Hauntings cards to slip in (side-eying Bloody Mackenzie and Resurrection Mary).

Best of luck and see you on the battlefield!
